The Citizen of Burma Award (CoBA) presentation ceremony was held at the Convention Centre of Chiang Mai University, northern Thailand on 23 May 2026. Min Ko Naing, who has involved in supporting terrorist activities in Myanmar since 1988 and currently, closely associated with the Committee Representing Pyidaungsu Hluttaw (CRPH), the National Unity Government (NUG), and the People’s Defence Force (PDF) in Myanmar, received the award. The organizations, CRPH, PDF and NUG, together with their subordinate entities, have been officially designated as terrorist groups under Notification No. 2/2021 dated 8 May 2021 in accordance with the Anti-Terrorism Law of Myanmar.
Kanwee Suebsaeng (Kannavee Suebsang), founder of the Peace Rights Foundation and a member of the House of Representatives Standing Committee for Legal Affairs, Justice, and Human Rights, attended and delivered remarks at an award ceremony honoring Min Ko Naing, who has been involved in inciting terrorist activities. Such participation and remarks constitute an act of encouragement and support for terrorism and are not conducive to the efforts of the Government of Thailand to promote peace and stability in Myanmar, nor do they contribute positively to bilateral relations between Myanmar and Thailand. Therefore, it is hereby announced that Kanwee Suebsaeng has been placed on the blacklist with effect from 1 June 2026.
